We Were There Friday PM July 10 On A Casino Redeye To Topeka . We Had 35 People on the Bus From McPherson And Hutchinson The Food And Service Was Wonderfull. Thank You Very Much. Can't Say Enough Good Things About This Place.

Ya know, it was OK. Not great not bad. Place is very nice and service was great but the food is eh'. Ordered a half-order of the gizzards, when this huge plate of very good gizzards comes out although I might add at the exact same time as our steaks but no big deal. Salad was average, potato was average, rib-eye steak was average but very tasty. Atmosphere is very nice and I myself wouldn't go back unless someone just wanted to go. It's a nice drive to a very nice little Mayberry-like town. I think it's got potential for sure, like a cool bar or something, to bring more folks out there. Like I said this is not a negative review but a somewhat positive. You should check it out for yourself no doubt but I won't go expecting much next time.

Had dinner here on a late Tuesday night, it was pretty empty in there just a few tables were filled. Everything was fine, The steak was good, salad was just some lettuce drenched in ranch. It wasn't impressive but it was fine, I'd go back. Seems like a good ol' country restaurant where everyone knows your name type place.

Folks get out for a drive and visit... Just off I-70. Simple good food at a fair price. Normally good ol' country service. REAL BEEF Steaks that are hand cut and outstanding. Half order of Chicken livers will feed four - whole load ($8) will feed a table of 8! Full bar for you drinkers. Sadly only Pepsi products served but since tied to a country store you can get COKE! Expect a local crowd on Friday and weekends. 16oz Rib eye was $23.00. Nothing fancy but worth the effort.

Our first visit to Puffy's. The drive from Topeka was fairly easy and carefree. Less stress than going out of town to Lawrence for dinner. Hubby ordered the rib eye while I got the pork tenderloin sandwich. Bread was fresh and tasty. Onion rings were worth the up-purchase with the sandwich. We both brought half home for another time to avoid being stuffy from Puffy's. Server was attentive and refills were plenty. We went during the week when it wasn't very busy. We'll be back again! (PS: Watch out for the local cop waiting on either side of the street for offenders!)

We loved this place! 1) Kids meals are REAL FOOD!! Real chicken tenderloin fried, real pieces of chicken breast, fried to perfection for kiddos at decent prices. 2) Get the Cow Patty. It's a gigantic burger that my husband loved. Fries were delicious. 3) Steak salad was yummy. Got it with blue cheese and it was gigantic. Easily could have filled 2 people on this. 4) Really neat décor. 5) Good hours. 6) Has a bar. All in all, we will be returning.

Visited Puffy's 4/29/14. Service was really poor, forgot the bread, forgot the sodas, forgot to get refills and there were only three tables with guests. Two in our party and the fried foods came out tasting of oil that should have been changed. The price for the meals were also too high for what we received. This is the third time in the last year we've had a bad experience here. In the past this place was top notch, I want it to go back in time and get better.

I love this place soooooo much. I have been through TWO boyfriends coming to this place in 12 years! On Saturday they serve a Prime Rib which is to DIE for....wonderful au jus and horseradish sauce served on the side. The steaks and handcut and just wonderful wonderful. They serve fried mushrooms, and wonderful onion rings...catfish, fried chicken...and it is all wonderful! Come for the steaks though...they are just fantastic. This is a great place for couples.

Huge portions for a good price. The Steak was flavorful and juicy! Been a while since I have been there. Would love to go back someday.

I looked on Yelp to find a place for us to eat as we were passing through the area. We thought we'd give it a try, but honestly should have kept driving on I-70 until we reached Cracker Barrel in another 20 minutes. It was quite bad. Among the 4 of us, we ordered burgers, a steak, and a grilled chicken salad, as well as fries, onion rings, and a baked potato. The burgers were good sized, but they were salty, dry and tough. The steak had so-so flavor, and had streaks of gristle and was so tough that my spouse had to spit most of it out. The chicken salad was okay. They used iceberg lettuce with some good cherry tomatoes; I don't remember any other vegetable in there. The grilled chicken was ice cold, obviously prepared ahead of time, but it was plentiful and tasted fine. I suspect the onion rings were from a bag- they were not crispy at all, but otherwise were okay. I can't say anything about the fries except that we've had better ones. Overall, it was disappointing. The service was good, though. We decided that in such a small town with no nearby competition, they just don't have to try.

The Real Deal. Worth the drive from Topeka. Well, assuming you like steaks. If you wanted Thai food this place would be disappointing.

Great service,Great Ribeye,Great ribs stop here every time I come across I 70

Great steakhouse. Of course its probably the most well known in the area. They do catering also which is quite popular. Prices are decent also. If you go here and never been before, I suggest ordering your steak one grade more done than normal. They tend to cook on the lower side of each grade. If you normally eat a medium, I suggest medium-well here.

What a good steak house. The steaks are always thick, the onion rings are wonderful and the service is always good. In the many times I have been here it is easy to see why this is Topeka's best Steakhouse (and it's not even in Topeka.) Puffy's Steakhouse became a staple of my family when I was a teenager. I can still remember looking at the thick steaks in their cooler on the grocery store side. They have never been terribly fancy which keeps them from being pretentious. It is a mix of a modern day steakhouse mixed with a small town diner. Easily one of my favorite things of this steakhouse is easily the mountain of onion rings you get for cheap. If you are ordering for two, get the half order. The steaks are what you would expect from America's beef belt. As a pro top, check out the Art Gallery across the street, you will not be disappointed you did!

Puffy's is a standby for our family. Steaks are reliably good. If you are traveling the I-70 corridor west of Topeka, a quality find.

A major disappointment (and we had such high expectations!). There were three large parties ahead of us (don't know why they didn't seat us before the parties since people continued to trickle in to join the already seated parties...) and they were understaffed on a Saturday night so we waited over 25 minutes to be seated in a half-empty restaurant. Once seated we waited another 20 minutes for our salads and bread. The onion rings were good but tepid - I would have thought for the amount of time we waited that they'd be fresh and hot. My drink ran out completely and was ignored so I went to the grocery store next door to get a bottled drink. I ordered a sirloin medium rare and my steak was quite good. My husband got the Kansas City strip steak medium and it came very rare with 3/4 of it gristle. By that time his patience was gone, we asked for the check and were out of there. Won't be back.
